The Story
“EMPORIKI SA” operates in the Greek market, both through a physical store network and the e-commerce channel. Management decided that the company is ready for a significant growth boost and it is well positioned to differentiate itself from the competition and decided to approach institutional investors to fund its ambitious plan.

However, management wanted to ensure that the chosen strategic business model has the return potential that makes it attractive for an institutional investor and asked us to review it for potential improvements.

OUR APPROACH
What we did
For 4 weeks, we worked with Management and executives of the Sales, Marketing & Finance departments to document the elements of the company’s business plan and create the respective financial model, on the basis of which we not only analyzed the proposed business model in terms of results and cash flow, but also addressed its sensitivities and the critical factors determining its performance.

With our analysis, the Management realized that regardless of the outcome of the funding round, the growth potential was and should be focused more on e-commerce, and this is where the growth capital should focus, with the development of the physical store network remaining in the mix but absorbing comparatively smaller funds.

Management decided to adjust its strategic plan focus following our recommendations, and used it to close a funding round of 5 million Euros.
Today, 18 months later, its sales show an increase of + 40% on an annualized basis, mainly driven from e-commerce.
